Designed to cruise the oceans of the world at speed with a small crew, the Ocean 55 has the long legs necessary for blue water sailing. Offered on a semi-custom basis, the 55 can be tailored to a client's requirements. As you step aboard, you will discover that the cockpit is a lounge lizard's paradise. Large daybeds aft in each corner replace traditional cockpit seats with comfortable social areas to kick back, put your feet up, and enjoy the moment. Centered in the cockpit, is a table that expands to provide dining up to 14 people. Double sliding doors and large opening windows allow easy access and excellent communication between the cockpit and main saloon. To starboard in the saloon, is a functional seagoing galley. To port, is a settee with a table capable of seating 8 for dinner. Outboard of the settee, is the navigation station instrumented for ocean cruising. The wraparound windshield, aft windows, and sliding doors provide 360° visibility for the cabin's occupants. Stepping down into the hulls, there is a private cabin aft in each with a queen size berth. Although it is possible to add a head to each cabin, the first Ocean 55 will be fitted with one head forward in each hull, saving weight and making the cabins more spacious. Amidship, at the center of pitching, are pilot berths - a single to port, and a double to starboard. Forward of the pilot berths, are full sized heads complete with showers large enough for two. The starboard bow contains a small, single cabin with direct access to the deck. In the port bow, forward of a watertight bulkhead, is a workbench and storage area for cruising gear and spares. The Ocean 55 is powered with a pair of 38-hp (51-hp optional) Yanmar sail drives. The rudders can be retracted to facilitate operation under power in water as shallow as 30" (0.76m).
